The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is a major business initiative of KITAB, a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage and the Frankfurt Book Fair.

KITAB’s aim is to develop the book and publishing industry and promote reading in Abu Dhabi and the neighbouring Arab Emirates. KITAB will focus on making the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair truly international and developing a long-term networking opportunity between the Arabic and international publishing communities.

The Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina)

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina aims to be: A centre of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge, and to be a place of dialogue, learning and understanding between cultures and peoples. The unique role of the Library of Alexandria, as that of a great Egyptian Library with international dimensions, will focus on four main aspects that seek to recapture the spirit of the original ancient Library of Alexandria.

Forming part of the Library, the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) is considered one of the leading Egyptian informal education organisations. It is a hands-on complex designed to stimulate human imagination and innovation through science and technology activities and workshops.

The PSC has developed a variety of programs that are of international standard and nationally adapted. Examples are the Summer Program, School Year Program, Robotics Program, Chess Program, Amateur Astronomy Club, Can Sat Program, and others, all of which involve practical experiences of the various scientific topics. Most of these programs are also associated with scientific competitions or complementary events.

On a national level, the PSC uses the Annual Events as an outreach opportunity, encouraging the public to become involved in science. In addition, the Center has launched the Science Clubs Initiative, a long-term dissemination program, in which the PSC establishes activity halls in public schools for various hands-on science and culture activities, and conducts teacher training sessions.

Kuwait Scientific Center

The Scientific Center of Kuwait, established in 2000 by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, is a cultural and educational facility enriched with knowledge, which portrays fascinating architectural design that reflects Islamic art and culture. The walls contain ceramic depictions of stories that tell of Kuwait’s history. The main building comprises 3 main attractions: the Aquarium, Discovery Place and IMAX Theater.

The Scientific Center of Kuwait aims to simplify science and promote environmental awareness in a fun-filled learning experience, with a vision to be recognized as a prominent, trusted and entertaining destination in the region for informal science education and environmental awareness for people of all ages.
